The TMNR ran on 40 volt DC current, provided by two rail pick-up. It seems that there were two types of power unit, one which provided fixed 40 v DC and the other a variable supply.

The former would have then used the control panel in the loco to manage the speed whilst the latter would have been ideal for use with children where an adult, off the train, could control the speed.
